Rules and Regulations for Library

HEIK has a spacious library with adequate and comfortable seating. It is run by a qualified librarian, and is well-stocked with several thousand books and journals. The following rules(subject to change /modification by the Library Committee of the University) shall be followed:

• A Library Membership Card, shall be issued to each student/person permitted to borrow books from the library. The cards are non-transferable and must be presented when using Library facilities. The student will make a security deposit of Afs.5000 and pay an annual membership fee of Afs.1200.

• A borrower who loses his/her card shall immediately inform the Librarian in writing. A duplicate card will be issued to him/her with a fee of Afs.500.

• Books shall be issued to the students and staff of HEIK only.

• Books shall not be transferred from one person to another.

• If a person obtains multiple library memberships, his/her subsequent membership(s) will be cancelled and a fine of Afs.500 will be levied for further usage of the library facilities.

• No Books shall be issued to a defaulting borrower, until he/she returns the books previously borrowed and pays the overdue fine.

• The borrower who fails to return books at the time of stock-taking shall be liable to fine as decided by the Library Committee.

• Manuscripts, reference books, as well as reserved materials cannot be lent.

• The members must to conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Silence is a must in the library. The Library administration will have the right to cancel the membership of a person who misbehaves within the library, disrespects the staff, is found taking books/reading material without the knowledge of the Librarian, or is involved in activities which are detrimental to the interest of the library. The library staff administration has the right to recall a book, and the borrower is required to comply.
